'MARA' MEANS SPOTTED
IN MAA LANGAGE
Mil came up with our company name during one of her several trips to Kenya. This example shows why dialogue is often hard.
"Mara” in the Maa language of the Masai, literally means “spotted” — referring to the shadows cast by the clouds on the land below. If you've seen the Masai Mara, then you know just how beautiful these "spots" are.
“Spotty or spotted,” in English, usually means something altogether different.
Perception matters. When you think of spots, do you think "beautiful" or "stained"? Resolving conflict begins with respecting different perceptions. Respect often begins with dialogue.
